Senior Lab Engineer

Summary/Objective:

The Sr. Lab Engineer will be responsible for ensuring readiness and high reliability of cutting-edge networks through integration testing by translating client technical requirements into viable, scalable test cases, test case execution, test result documentation and implementation.  In this position, you will also coordinate efforts across product, engineering, network operations and services teams to design and build test beds for validating and certifying protocol conformance, interoperability, and scale aspects of network design.

  Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders from a strategic perspective to identify and exploit emerging technologies
  • Promote the strategic use of highly scalable architectures
  • Enable user automation and scale development of meaningful architectures which, in turn, will help deliver customer results
  • Interpret and translate client technical requirements into viable, scalable test cases
  • Develop the appropriate test cases for projects and working with clients and internal groups to document and resolve hardware and software problems
  • Execute test cases and document results
  • Lead strategic projects with an agile mindset that leverages the application of cutting-edge network technologies
  • Perform detailed lab evaluations of next generation networking equipment and automation
  • Ensure that the network architecture and function provide the capabilities needed to meet identified business needs

Required Education/Experience and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Highly versatile and equally capable of communications in front of an architecture review board or executive leadership
  • Possess expert level technical experience with networking hardware and software
  • Possess leadership skills with the ability to coalesce Network Design Specification and test requirements from Planning, Architecture, Engineering, and Operations teams
  • Excellent communications and technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with multiple OEMs hardware and technologies
  • Knowledge of various North American and European telecommunications standards and protocols including MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, Multicast, IPv4, IPv6, BFD, BFD, QoS, L3 / L2 VPNs, LDP, RSVP-TE, OAM, and Ethernet
  • Familiarity with 3GPP traffic flows, core protocol suite, and the core data nodes:  SGW / PGW / PCEF, PCRF, GGSN, RADIUS, DHCP, DNS
  • Excellent understanding of communications and data networking protocols, parameters, and interfaces SI-c/u, Gn, Gi, Gx, Gy, Rx
  • Capability to operate and interpret data from all kinds of tested equipment
  • Detailed understanding of software and hardware functionality on many different vendor platforms
  • Experience developing the appropriate test cases for projects and working with vendors and internal groups to document and resolve hardware and software problems
  • Experience working with vendors and internal organizations to implement changes and correct problems in the network
  • Advanced / expert routing and/or networking certification or relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of lab test tools and protocol emulators (example:  Ixia, Xena, and Spirent)
  • Knowledge with scripting languages (example:  Ansible, Python, and Jenkins)

Network Consulting Engineer

Summary/Objective:  As a Network Consulting Engineer (NCE) you will act as the subject matter expert for IP Networking.  The Network Consulting Engineer (NCE) will support our client and the end-customer, typically a major wireless service provider.  The NCE will provide IP Networking services, including network design and, high level trouble ticket escalation, to the end customer’s network.  The NCE will be in a customer facing role and, must be able to closely coordinate with clients and internal teams to provide knowledge transfer.  Primary function is to act as a subject matter expert in a Service Provider environment using MPLS, BGP and OSPF.  A great deal of customer interaction is expected.  This is a regular, full-time opportunity well suited for a senior level, service provider network consultant.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide Day 1 and Day 2 Support
  • Conduct internal lab testing and validation
  • Create and execute test plans
  • Document test results
  • Provide resolution of issues found during testing activities
  • Interface with respective Bus for escalation of issues / fixes
  • Generate operational documents
  • Generate Methods of Procedures (MOPs) including installation, upgrades, and deployment procedures
  • Generate Customer Information Questionnaires (CIQs)
  • Update Project Information Form (PIF)
  • Verify hardware inventory and configuration
  • Update inventory databases
  • Create System Engineering Document (SED)
  • Create IP and Platform work orders
  • Coordinate network VLAN turn-up
  • Create work orders to get configurations in place
  • Support new installations, upgrades, and deployment in production environment
  • Integrate solutions in Service Provider (SP) environment
Other Functions:
  • Review technical business requirements and proposing designs to meet the customer current and future business needs. Whilst also providing SP consultancy, design, implementation and support services to customers
  • Produce and present project documentation including design, implementation and testing in line with standards
  • Deliver Professional Services by working closely with the customer on issues and opportunities in their SP environment. This involves the analysis of data collected from the customer’s environment against standards and guidance to provide them with innovative solutions whilst also optimizing availability and stability.
  • Become the trusted advisor, building a solid, long-term relationship with your customers through providing technical thought leadership in solving customer issues and achieving their business outcome.

Required Education/Experience and Competencies:
  • Proven experience and advanced knowledge in the following major areas of Service Provider environments: Routing & Switching Platforms and Datacenter Platforms, with expert level knowledge / experience of Elastic Services Controller (ESC)
  • Strong Experience and knowledge in the Enterprise and Service Provider environments with expert level of internetworking and solution troubleshooting in these complex environments
  • Good Networking and Data Center design skills, with strong current knowledge of networking fundamentals and good experience in Professional/Consulting Services or high-level support
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in Overlay Solutions, Cloud and IT infrastructures plus automation and orchestration implementation
  • Clear understanding and ability to communicate the latest market trends as Cisco will continue to partner and form eco-systems to deliver comprehensive solutions to our customer base
  • Strong experience of technical consulting with demonstrable experiences of leading customers and their teams through the design and implementation of new complex technologies that are core to their business??

RITC Resident LAB ENGINEER

Reports To: PROJECT MANAGER

Working Hours:40 HOURS in normal condition

Work Location:  Reston-VA, or other location based on customer request/ Must be Green Card or US Citizen.
Date: ASAP

Summary/Objective: The RITC Lab Engineer is required to fully test the RF product or RF system to ensure it functions properly and meets the test case and business needs. The job responsibilities include: Setting up of test environments, designing test plans, developing test cases/scenarios/usage cases, and executing the various cases as described in Job functions.

  Essential Functions:

  • Software Installation and backout
  • Regression Testing
  • Feature Activation and backout
  • New Feature Testing
  • Software Fix Verification
  • Operations, Administration & Maintenance of the lab
  • Performance Monitoring of the Test Sites
  • Troubleshooting of software anomalies and performance issues

  • Troubleshooting of issues encountered during testing, collection of logs/traces, configuration files and analysis
  • Create daily alarm reports for customer specified markets consisting of respective clusters around 200 sites LTE FDD/TDD
  • Follow up above alarms list to Sprint to clear the alarms
  • Learning XCAP to process raw data that collected with XCAL for FIT purpose LTE features like carrier aggregation CA
  • Identify and analyze degraded sites within cell clusters
  • Pinpoint specific KPI with specific degradation
  • Pull necessary data from performance monitoring applications
  • Produce output (charts, graphs, spreadsheets, etc.) to show specific time/date points of issues
  • Recommend specific corrective actions to resolve specific issues with sites
  • Attend customer calls for future activities related to cell performance.

Work Experience: Basic Knowledge of wireless systems or technical background
Reports To: Project Lead/Project Manager
Physical and/or Special Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
