We are seeking a Packet Core RF Engineer to join our Customer Experience team to support major SP telecom customers. You will be providing remote and onsite technical support for Cisco’s NFV based mobility platforms.

Essential Functions:

  • Possess detailed knowledge of customer network, critical sites, and operating procedures
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of wireless, cellular, and Packet Core technologies
  • Possess experience giving onsite technical support to customers and ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Design and optimize networking solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Design, test, and deploy network products into client networks
  • Coordinate with customers and / or vendor integrations teams
  • Analyze / suggest improvements to both IP and legacy based networks
  • Use proficiency with theory and application of IP networking fundamentals
  • Participate in design / implementation and migration, or problem resolution projects involving mobility solutions
  • Provide support for customers during software and / or hardware upgrades
  • Provide enhanced service delivery capability through broad understanding of customer needs and integration with assigned services team

Other Functions:

  • Establish and maintain close relationship with internal and external peers
  • Work independently, receiving minimal supervision, with no instruction on routine work and general instruction on new assignment
  • Own the delivery outcomes
  • Own the customer experience
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Will work from client’s premises and / or remote
  • Willing to potentially work extra hours and travel on short notice
  • Ability to work under aggressive project timelines

Required Education/Experience and Competencies:

  • College degree in a relevant field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with 3G/4G networks, RADIUS, DIAMETER and / or PCRF
  • CCNA a plus, CCIE preferred
  • Experience working with High Availability (HA) systems and databases
  • Experience with IMS environment
  • Experience with DIAMETER protocol (RFC 3588)
  • Experience with 3GPP network systems with an emphasis on 3GPP policy framework (PCC)
  • Experience with Linux and various scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DRA / DRE
  • Familiarity with 3GPP core protocol suite and the core data nodes: SGW / PGW / PCEF, PCRF, GGSN, RADIUS, DHCP, DNS
  • Excellent understanding of communications and data networking protocols, parameters and interfaces SI-c/u, Gn, Gi, Gx, Gy, Rx
  • Excellent understanding of LTE / UMTS technology, 3GPP standards and traffic flows
  • Excellent knowledge of IP networking, TCP, and exposure to OPENET PCRF
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to resolve complex call scenarios
  • Excellent communication skills and attitude to take on new challenges
  • Knowledge of Gx, Policy and Control charging functions, billing
  • Strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented with focus on product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Team player with open communication and ability to work on a diverse team
  • Work independently, receiving minimal supervision, with no instruction on routine work and with general instruction on new assignments
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
